Architectural Features
The castle combines various architectural styles, including Scottish, Moorish, and Indian. It features a six-story tower, wine cellars, an elevator (which would have been the first in Malaya), and a rooftop courtyard.
Unfinished Construction
The construction was never completed. Smith died in 1926 of pneumonia during a trip to Portugal. Following his death, financial difficulties and the onset of the Great Depression halted the project. The castle was left in its unfinished state and became overgrown by the jungle.
